MIXED MESSAGES VOL. 3
DOWNLOAD IT HERE http://www.mediafire.com/?ii02a4vm24tijus
I’ve wanted to post a new mix tape for a while seeing I haven’t posted one since October.
reblog it, retweet it whatever. listen to it, delete it, ignore it
i love music and making this shit is fun. It’s unfocused, all over the place and fun all at the same time. If you drove across the country, say Boston to LA, you could listen to this 25 to 30 times in a row.
it’s nothing special just fun (and yes both Tupac and Black Breath are on volume three)
Volume 2 can be downloaded here http://mattxpike.tumblr.com/post/11108634209/mixed-messages-mix-tape-vol-2-download-link
Volume one can be downloaded here http://mattxpike.tumblr.com/post/8655118445/mixed-messages-volume-1-download-link
punk / hardcore/ metal/ hip hop/ whatever
a small disclaimer in closing : in no way shape or form is this an exercise in promotion. I am just trying to have some fun and share some good jams. In no way am I trying to promote an artist or agenda here. If any artist/ label or other party feel that having a song on this MP3 is a hindrance to them in anyway shape or form please contact me and the link will be removed. In all honestly, its just my way showing appreciation to ones ability to create art.
so share it, re post it, re blog it, listen to it, delete it. do whatever
fuck yeah
I didn’t grow up in a household surrounded by music. So where my love from music comes from is sort of a mystery still.
As a kid, it was pretty clear that I was always going to cut my own path and explore on my own. The same when it came to music.
Looking back at the late 80’s and early 90’s, I am actually pretty critical of myself when it comes to music. I was so close minded thinking that punk and hardcore where all I should listen to. I was missing out on so much good music due to the fact that I thought i had to think a certain way, only like this one type of music. In reading some of Henry Rollins early books, my opinion on that way of thinking changed pretty quickly. The world was open to me pretty quickly.
I am such a sponge when it comes to music. I cannot and will not get enough of it. I still get chills listening to Black Sabbath, Fugazi and The Smiths. As much now as i did back then. I still have a legitimate joy discovering new bands.
One way I could feed my “sponge like desires” was to tape trade and make mix tapes. It was a huge part of the metal/ punk/ hardcore community. It was something I loved doing and still like doing. The thought of turning someone onto new music was always thrilling to me. I still have a few dozen that we given to me years ago.
In todays digital age, with how accessible the internet makes everything it takes away some of that thrill of giving and receiving a mix tape.
I love listening to podcasts and other people’s “playlists” and so I made one myself. It’s nothing special, nothing mind blowing. Just a bunch of songs that I have been listening to a bunch of late. I think it is pretty diverse and that can drive some people nuts.
I was too lazy to make a “podcast” so I settled on one long mp3 track. Easier that way.
I have always loves lyrics. The thought that you could make someone else’s words your one is kind of lazy but exciting at the same time. Lyrics have shaped the way people live their lives. So many lyricists have the ability to make you the listener feel as if they are speaking directly to you. “How could they know what I am thinking/feeling”. That connection is priceless
Anyways, I hope you enjoy it. if not oh well. i’ll do better next time.
you should make one too. blah blah blah
